Performance repertoire - Interesting Facts & Stats
  • 140 concerts in total, 97 of these at Trinity Methodist Church over 37 years

  • 346 works,  some more than once, so 534 performances in total. Of these 346, 18 have been by composers who were still living at this time:

82 concertos (not including some shorter solo works), with the violin being the most

popular solo instrument (31 performances of 17)

             70 symphonies, 34 overtures and 33 suites

Haydn is the most-performed symphonist, with 31 performances of 22 symphonies

Beethoven 28 performances of 8 symphonies

Mozart 24 performances of 11 symphonies

  • Austrian composers have received the most performances – 169 performances of 100 works.  Unsurprisingly, Mozart is the most performed composer with 85 performances of 45 works

  • Composers from the UK (which historically included Ireland) – 108 performances of 84 works. Germany fewer individual works (78) but more performances (134). These 3 countries account for over three-quarters of the works performed

  • There are 13 “countries of origin” in total; Norway is represented by just 1 work (though it has been performed 3 times)

  • The country with the most different composers included in our programmes is – by a long way – the UK with 35.  (This total includes some local composers)

  • To date all 346 works have been by male composers! (something we are aiming to rectify in the near future)
